AREA 1 FORMALLY ORGANIZED CE ACTIVITIES
- Programs organized by an approved sponsor (NCA listing of approved sponsors in recertification pamphlet), including AGT
- Career-related course work at a college or university
TO CALCULATE CEUs
- One semester hour = 15 contact hours = 1.5 CEUs
- One quarter hour = 10 contact hours = 1.0 CEU
DOCUMENTATION
- Certificate of attendance
- Receipt of registration accompanied by letter of attendance
- Official Transcript
AREA 2 CE ACTIVITIES WITHOUT APPROVED SPONSORSHIP
- Formal scientific or career-related activities, i.e., hospital seminars, journal club, telemets, workshops, regional meetings, etc.
TO CALCULATE CEUs
- One contact hour = 0.1 CEU
DOCUMENTATION
- Letter of attendance or signed roster
- Copy of the program or agenda
- Title and brief description of activity with director signature
AREA 3 TEACHING
- Development and initial offering of career-related courses and workshops
TO CALCULATE CEUs
- One hour of teaching plus 4 hours of preparation time (assumed) = 5 contact hours = 0.5 CEU
DOCUMENTATION
- Copy of syllabus, program or letter of appreciation that demonstrates content and length of teaching time
- Only credit for teaching the same topic once
AREA 4 PAPERS, PUBLICATIONS, BOOKS AND EXHIBITS
- Publication in an indexed journal
- Chapter of a career-related book
- Development of a technical or scientific exhibit (poster) displayed at an annual meeting
TO CALCULATE CEUs
- Single or dual authorship = 1.0 CEU
- First (senior) authorship = 1.0 CEU
- Multiple authorship = 0.5 CEU
- Exhibit or poster = 1.0 CEU

- Title page of publication
- Chapter listing and title page
- Abstract identifying poster session
- Meeting outline identifying presentation
