Continuing Education

Prospective members can join free of charge but will have limited access. Prospective membership is required to receive information on upcoming AGT events and activities and to participate in the AGT online learning system, where you will find continuing education opportunities.
Available Continuing Education (CE) opportunities are locted in the online learning area. Members must be logged in to access and after joining as a prospective member, non-members can login and access these opportunities and pay invoices. Upon successful completion all CE activities, certificates can be viewed, saved, and printed.


Test Yourself: This is an opportunity to test yourself and earn continuing education credits. Each issue of The Journal of the Association of Genetic Technologists contains an open book test based on articles from the previous issue of The Journal. Participants complete a multiple choice test online and submit it by the deadline. Successful participation in each Test Yourself earns the participant 3 Contact Hours. Test Yourselves are free to AGT members, and are $30 for non-members.


Journal Club: This activity is designed to meet the continuing education needs of individuals in all laboratory settings. Journal Clubs contain a set of questions based on three recent journal articles. Source information for the articles is provided, but participants must obtain the articles themselves. Participants are to read the articles and  and consider the discussion questions. After discussion, all individuals applying for continuing education credits are to complete the question sets included in the Journal Club packet. Journal Clubs include necessary recertifiction topics, such as Safety and Medical Ethics. Successful completion of each AGT Journal Club earns the participant 4.0 Contact Hours. AGT Journal are $10 for members and $30 for non-members. Coming soon


Webinars: AGT webinars are available for 1.0 Contact Hours. Upon its conclusion, registered live webinar participants will complete an evaluation prior to acessing the CE certificate. Live webinars are offered free to members. Recorded webinars may be purchased at a cost of $20 per session for non-members and free to members. Coming soon


Annual Meeting: The annual meeting provides on opportunity to receive continuing education credits, network with other genetic professionals, and present your own findings. Please view our annual meeting page for more information and updates.
